Growing without Bricks and Mortar needn’t be a Challenge

Growing without Bricks and Mortar needn’t be a Challenge
By Tarnia Robertson, Managing Director, Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel Golf and Spa

For many start-ups and small businesses, office premises are a huge cost that, in the early stages of the business, can be avoided.

Most sole traders and start-ups don’t require office premises in the early years of their entrepreneurial journey. And, with so much technology at our finger tips, the dynamics of the traditional office for businesses has dramatically changed with many companies scrapping them altogether in favour of working remotely.

Now, all you need is the ability to use Skype or the basic video calling function of your mobile phone to be able to meet with a client, supplier or prospect face-to-face.

Not having the traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ of an office building may represent enormous cost savings, but it can be problematic when you want to bring people together for a meeting and don’t have a place that professionally represents your brand.

Travelling to the client each time you meet is one way to overcome this, but there are some occasions where this is not a workable solution. And, what about when you want to meet with several people at one time? Or what if you need to bring your team together for team-building exercises, brainstorms, planning meetings or even one-to-ones and interviews that you would rather do off site?

When you want to be the host and impress, renting a space for the day is an ideal solution. And it’s a trend we’ve noticed is on the rise. Our conferencing and events facilities are increasingly being used for smaller meetings as well as larger conferences and events.

For sole traders and start-ups, rented space makes it possible to present a professional image when you don’t have a dedicated office space with a meeting room. Hiring a function room at a venue like a hotel allows you to take advantage of a beautiful location and have everything you need on hand, meaning you can focus on the outcomes you need to achieve from the meeting.

By using a hotel like Ufford Park with onsite leisure facilities, not only is there accommodation available should you need it, but you can also take advantage of the various leisure pursuits on offer for client entertainment. This provides further opportunities to impress and make your guests feel valued. For team building exercises having outdoor space can also offer a new dimension to the activities that you are able to undertake.

Ufford Park Woodbridge offers a range of rooms and solutions to suit the needs of businesses of all sizes. We have seven light and airy rooms and extensive outdoor space which can be used for meetings and events of all sizes. Our beautiful grounds are also available for corporate entertainment and team building activities that require more space. So why not make us an extension of your business and take advantage of the space we have to offer to help grow your business?
